The Basics of Auto AC Repair

When the summer heat is at its peak, it’s crucial to have a functioning air conditioner in your car. A broken AC can make for a long and uncomfortable drive. Knowing the basics of auto AC repair is essential to prepare for any issues with your car’s air conditioning. In addition, understanding the problem and how to fix it will save you time and money in the long run.

Common Causes of Auto AC Problems

One of the most common causes of auto AC problems is a low refrigerant level. Refrigerant circulates through the air conditioning system, absorbing heat inside your car and then releasing it outside. If there is not enough refrigerant, it won’t be able to absorb enough heat, resulting in warm air coming out of your vents instead of cool air. If this is the case, you may also notice an odd smell or hear loud noises from your vents.

Another common issue with auto air conditioning systems is a faulty compressor or blower motor. If either fails, you must replace them before your system starts working again. Depending on the damage, you may also need to replace hoses or fittings.

The condenser coils are responsible for dissipating heat inside your car and are located behind your radiator grille. If these coils become clogged, they won’t be able to do their job properly, and your system will not function. Cleaning these coils should help prevent this issue from occurring.
